The Secret to Being More Sexually Confident

While you may ooze confidence in the streets, you may lack it in between the sheets.

Being sexually confident is something that may not happen for everyone overnight, but it’s something that can be achieved. Sex is something to be enjoyed, and if you are caught up in insecurities and doubt, it can really hinder the experience for both you and your partner.

Lack of confidence in the bedroom can be for many reasons. Perhaps you lack experience, or you don’t feel confident in your body? Or maybe you’ve had bad sexual encounters in the past. Whatever the reason, I’m going to let you in on a few secrets to help you feel more sexually confident.

Explore your body

Masturbation is the key to figuring out what you like and don’t like. If you have never explored your own body, how are you to know what makes you weak at the knees and articulate that to a partner? If you are new to solo sex, you can simply use your hand and maybe a bit of lube to explore. If you are feeling more adventurous, why not invest in some toys? We love Irish-owned sexsiopa.ie for their wide range of beginner-friendly vibes.

Embrace your so-called ‘flaws’

So, what if your tummy jiggles a bit while getting the ride? Who gives a shit if your thighs rub together when doing the deed? There are way more important (not to mention fun!) things going down during sex to focus on. Everyone has parts of their bodies that they may not be a fan of, but don’t let your body hang-ups rule your sex life. Get used to looking at your naked body in the mirror and being kind in how you speak to yourself. And remember, if your partner ever makes you feel bad about your body, make sure to show them the door pronto.

Communicate with your partner

If you are feeling a lack of confidence surrounding asking for what you want sexually, try having an open conversation with your partner. Whether you sit down over a cuppa and let them know what you would like to try in the bedroom, or explore some dirty talk through texts; you will find being open about your desires will unlock a whole new sexual world for you. If you find that your partner makes you feel ashamed of your fantasies or sexual preferences, you need to find a new person to have sex with – plain and simple!

Love yourself

As cheesy as it may sound, if you don’t love yourself, you can’t expect anyone else to love you. If your sexual confidence has taken a severe hit, explore why this is. Journal your thoughts or visit a mental health professional to chat through your insecurities and doubt. You owe it to yourself to get to the root of the matter. And to learn how to get past it. Loving yourself will give you the confidence to strut your stuff in the bedroom and recognise what a sex goddess you actually are!
