Is this Starbucks cup the new 'the dress'?
Alas, 2016's version of The Dress is now upon us. This time around, it's a Starbucks cup that's sending those who of us who live our lives through social media into a total spin. But don't worry, Kim Kardashian; this cup's got nothing on you. Nobody breaks the internet like the Kardashian clan.
Now, usually you're lucky if your Starbucks barista manages to spell your name correctly at all - FYI, life hack; Max is a name that really can't get wrong - but this time, he miraculously managed to write a name that when looked at from both inside and outside of the cup, spelled two completely different names.
Her name was Anna but when she looked at the cup from the inside out, it read Julia. Oooh.
And that's all it takes for something to go viral. Having said that, semordnilaps or backronyms are rare enough to come by, especially when created by accident. Unlike the more familiar palindrome, this weird phenomenon spells a different word when read the other way around. Yes, our heads hurt too.
And as cleverly pointed out by Bustle, and you may already have copped it, but semordnilap is palindrome backwards. Mind blown.
Here's the internet-breaking cup.
