Runaway Cat! A Family Pet Was Found Safe & Sound 2000 Miles Away

Tabby cat Kevin went missing two years ago and his family in South Carolina had given up hope that they would ever see him again.

That is until they unexpectedly got a call from Southern California to say that he had been found, alive and well over 2,000 miles away. Here's a quick Google maps version of what that route looks like:

Indoor cat Kevin's owner Cheryl Walls said that he had been acting unhappily so she started to let him roam around outside, until one day he didn't come back. That was back in 2013, and Walls assumed that she wouldn't be seeing Kevin again.

However, it turns out that he had hitched a ride in a U-Haul trailer from someone who was driving across the country, and was discovered when an inspector heard meowing during a routine stop on the border with Arizona.

Kevin was a bit dehydrated but overall was in good condition, and when the folks at Riverside County Animal Services scanned his microchip, they were able to contact Wells and let her know Kevin would be headed home. We wonder if Kevin is on board with that? He obviously went to a lot of effort to run away..!

Cats are soooo weird! You can be a cat person and agree with that statement. Are you a cat person? Or do you prefer the company of an animal that's happy with your company?
