Reasons to admire Victoria Beckham: the Marmite of the celebrity world; love or hate her?
Victoria Beckam is a woman who shot to fame as a pop star with very questionable singing abilities. Yet twenty years on she is still one of the most famous women in the world: idolised and scorned in equal measure. Here we take a look at the ups and downs of VB and analyse how exactly she' s doing it.
HER SUCCESS
I was reading about Victoria Beckham recently and I was furious that the writer was saying that her good fortune was based entirely on being in the right place at the right time. I will not have that said about her!
Yes, she was lucky to have been picked for the Spice Girls and to have married David, but over the years she has tried out different projects and when they haven’t worked out for her, you have to admire her for knowing when to quit. And to accept her inadequacies. It must have been hard to accept that she wasn’t going to make it as an entertainer, even after the huge success of the Spice Girls.
Even though she can't really sing, she's a pop star turned fashion designer and right now it seems she really has it all.
Four gorgeous children, including the little girl she craved so much and a hot hubby. (Have you SEEN his latest photos for the H&M mens undercracker line? I've got a shot of them, scroll down). They live in gorgeous homes, have a ton of money and lots of celebrity and royal friends. They get all the best invitations, have an amazing lifestyle and they both work doing something they are passionate about. But why do people insist on finding the most trivial reasons for disliking her? It seems everyone has an opinion about VB and she has much we can be envious of, that’s for sure.
Here's a few of the things people argue the most about.

HER HAIR
Her ever evolving haircut is constantly copied and why not, some of her hairstyles are amazing. I don’t admit this to many, but I have twice taken a photo of her haircut to my hairdresser. I think VB knows what suits her and she is not afraid to try something new.
Alright so she has a dangerous obsession with extensions but it just shows she likes to mix up the length. And sure when lumps of them fell out very publicly at the World Cup, she just went ahead and created the POB. She obviously influenced the bobs of Eva Longoria and Katie Holmes (two of her VBF’s) both of whom have long hair like VB at the moment. I do think she looks better as a brunette and with it short, though.
HER WEIGHT
Or lack of! Probably the thing most people criticise her for. (Bet lots of people wish she would wake up one morning fat! She didn’t even look fat when she was pregnant and that probably made the haters even crazier!) But, you know she has always been slim. Yes, there have been times when she has been too thin, but lately she looks healthy for her size. For her! And she is no thinner than a lot of models and they haven’t got four children to run after. We don’t hate fat people for being fat, so why do so many hate her for being skinny?
HER STYLE
She certainly seems to have found her signature style and is not afraid to work it. She's made some fashion faux pas over the years but now she just looks effortlessly chic all the time, even at soccer games and relaxing with her children. And if ever there was an award for airport chic she would absolutely win! I don’t know how she does it. The airport is her catwalk and I have to hand it to her. I am mostly a tracksuit or leggings on a plane girl and you would never catch me in heels. She always puts style over comfort. And looks fantastic.

HER DESIGNS
As a fashion designer she has wowed us all, hasn’t she? At least give her that! One of my fashion desires is to own one of her pieces. (Never gonna happen my friends, but a girl’s gotta have dreams!)
From her first jeans with Rock and Republic to her fashion lines today and her amazing handbags, she has really made her name in the fickle world of fashion. And all of these A-list celebs seem to agree.
And I love that she wears her own clothes! People berate her for that too. If you don’t love your own designs then nobody else will, so why shouldn’t she enjoy wearing them? And yes I have to admit she does design for her own figure, but hey, someone has to dress the skinny ones, right?

HER SMILE
Or lack of! Yes, it would be nice if she smiled more often and it was wonderful to see her smiling at the end of NY Fashion Week, but years ago she said she didn't smile because she hated her dimples so it’s just a bad habit. Pity, as she has lovely teeth.
HER HUSBAND
There's no doubting that her husband has led hugely to her success. They're not just a married couple: they're a brand, DVB, producing everything from fragrance to watches, jeans, fashion and the rest. The celebrity endorsements they pick up both singly and as a couple would make your head spin.
And her husband is one of the most gorgeous men in the world. Did you honestly think I would go any further without showing you a picture of David in his keks? Here he is in the new H&M campaign, living proof that he's only getting even hotter as he gets older *wipes brow*.
HER FAMILY
They're beautiful. And the addition of Harper has just made it all even cuter and more adorable! Victoria is obviously a hopelessly devoted mama and we love her for that.
Her career today as a fashion designer is what she has always wanted to do.
In fact, I think that is the secret of her success, and David’s too. Neither of them are the sharpest tool in the box I admit, and yet they are wealthy beyond their dreams because they both work at what they love to do, all day, and get paid for it.
And have we ever seen a photo of her falling out of a nightclub or being mean to her children? No.
So, even if like her husband you hate her hair extensions, and couldn’t care less if she had a second boob job or not (for sure!) you have to at least admire the woman for the success she has made of her life. Isn’t that what we all want in the end?
So go on. What is your opinion of Victoria Beckham, one of the marmites of the celebrity world?
