Models should stay skinny: plus size models encourage obesity say study
You might have read about the study from the University of Bologna which claims the the widespread acceptance of plus size models could actually add to the incidence of obesity in Western society.
Em what?! I thought when I first read about it. How the hell does that work? Well apparently the more we see curvy (instead of emaciated) models in magazines etc the more we will think that it's ok to be bigger.
"To promote chubby fashion models when obesity is one of the major problems of industrialised countries seems to be a paradox," the researchers declared.

So, no worries then that we should actually see real normal people in magazines or on catwalks. And the kind of women who make it on to the catwalk have figures that are actually unobtainable to over 95% of the population. That's right - no matter how hard you try, you haven't a snowballs chance of ever looking like one of those gals. Yet they're held up as the ideal body type and shape. It's obviously better to promote anorexia over obsesity eh?
So what about you? Like to see more plus size models in the glossy mags, or think that they could contribute to obsesity and we should stick with the super skinnies ?
Thoughts please!
