Missing Project Catwalk? Try Rihanna's Styled To Rock!
"Are you watching Styled To Rock?" asked my Dad one evening. "Er..no." said I, confused as to why he was watching. It turns out that one of the contestants went to my old school and was in my brother's class. Intrigued as to how he was doing, I watched a few episodes on Living and am now pretty much glued to it. The format is essentially the same as Project Catwalk, but with more pop stars thrown in, as so far they've designed outfits for Pixie Lott, Little Mix and Rizzle Kicks.
Also, watching it with my Dad proved very entertaining, for Dadisms such as "What's that band called? Swizzle Sticks?"
It's always nice to have an Irish contestant to root for in shows like this, and so far the designer in question, Steve Corcoran is kicking ass. He's already won two challenges, one on his own merit and the other as group leader when the designers were split into teams.

While Project Catwalk catered for the haute couture end of fashion, Styled To Rock is more like the Heat magazine of fashion competitions. But in a good way. It's a bit of entertaining fluff, the judges (Henry Holland, Nicola Roberts and Lysa Cooper) don't make me shout at the telly in frustration like the Britain and Ireland's Next Top Model ones do and the big prize is to design for Rhianna, who is also the executive producer.
It also has me saying stuff like "Come on! That brief is totally vague!" like I'd have any idea where to even begin designing an outfit for a girl band.
So are you watching? And also should we be taking fashion advice from Rihanna?
