Kristen Stewart: Glamour Magazine Best Dressed Woman of 2012
"From awkward teen to style queen" gush Glamour as they propell Kristen Stewart to the top of their best dressed list.
But er hang on I thought. Isn't this Twilight star Kristen Stewart who wears trainers on the red carpet? Isn't this the girl who lives her life as scruffy as they come, in jeans and runners (nothing wrong with that obviously, but a style icon it doesn't make.). Isn't this the girl who looks so uncomfortable at any red carpet event that you literally cringe inside for her?
And futhermore she has oftentimes scoffed at such events and dressing up
Yes that's her. So what's changed?
Well I think firstly Kristen is just growing up. The ensemble above was one she wore to the MTV Awards and I always thought it was really appropriate to her age and her opinions about things. She does't look like she's been churned out of a Hollywood babe machine for starters - all lipgloss and tumbling hair extensions. She looks like what she actually is: a young girl with her own personality - an anti Paris Hilton if you will.

But the next outfit shows us a markedly different Kristen. She has become is the face of Balenciaga’s new perfume and has started to attend fashion shows - she was seated next to Anna Wintour at Balenciaga's Fall show at Paris Fashion Week. Her style is changing and it will change even more as the army of stylists, yes men, primper and preeners surround her and don't let her out the door with a single hair out of place.

And why are Balenciaga doing this? Why do they want Kristen? Well she gives them direct access to that young, hip, Twilight obsessed generation that every brand is throwing a knicker fit to become associated with. Ca ching.
And Glamour Magazine can see the writing on the wall and the change in Kristen. They might be calling her the most stylish woman in the world a bit prematurely and it will take her a few years to get there - that's if she cares enough about it- but it will happen.
What do you think?
