Floral Blazers: Let's pretend it's Spring. Extreme care required though

The shops are stuffed full of them, The Saturdays have been pictured in every Heat type mag wearing them ( a sure sign of a mass market trend) and I bet you've been thinking: will I get on board too?

I've been thinking it myself and only one thing is stopping me.  The wearing of a floral blazer is a stylistic minefield.  When it looks good it looks really good.  But when it looks bad it's horrid.

Floral blazers can look really cheap.  Even when they're not, which is a bit of a sickner.  When in doubt try to go for a smaller print because if the flowers are too loud and garish as a general rule it can look a bit naff.  Better to pick a print with a smaller flower and avoid colours that clash madly.

Marks&Spencer Per Una.  What the... what?  I don't know what goes on in the minds of the Per Uno buyers.

You have to be really careful what you er team them with.  For instance: your new floral blazer and your favourite floral trousers?  Just don't do it (unless you're sixteen, in which case it will look great).  You'll look like an explosion in a flower shop.  Or an American tourist in a floral "pantsuit".  Either way, best avoid.

Jeans are the best bet.  It keeps the look relaxed and casusal.  It declares: look at me, I'm trend aware but I'm playing it down.

Another option, if you don't want to go too loud and just give a nod to the trend is  to go for something relatively monochrome - you could wear these lads into work (Next €82)

So what do you reckon?  Are floral blazers giving you the sicks or are you loving this look?
