First Look: River Island High Summer Collection

Ok, so Rihanna’s collection didn’t blow us away, but River Island redeemed themselves with their recent summer preview: think ice-cream, lemonade and plenty of covetable and wearable bits ‘n’ bobs that had me dying to pack a bag and jet off in search of sun.

Georgia Hardinge Design Forum collection is online and in-store now, so be quick! The collection is priced between €47 - €94

High summer is a little bit predictable – it’s all about sunshine and festivals and beachwear – but River Island still manage to serve up an eclectic mix of trends. Think neons, nudes, embellishment and geometric prints, all set off by some seriously standout accessories.

Favourites included pretty much all of the Georgia Hardinge capsule collection – it might be inspired by the movie Alien and Swiss surrealist sculpture, but don’t let that scare you off. The cool grey, nude, black and white colour palette, graphic prints and architectural cuts combine for a look that's stylish, flattering and (crucially) wearable, and the price is right too.

Other standouts include this retro inspired bikini (top €22; bottoms €17 - and Valerie will be happy to know there’s a playsuit to match), floaty, blush coloured maxi skirt and gorgeous nude blazer.  The blazer, €60, will be in store any day now and can be found online here. There's no in store date on the skirt as yet but keep an eye out for it online in the next couple of weeks. It's €33.
