Compulsive and repulsive viewing: grubby g-string, vajazzle in Tallafornia horrifies David Norris
Yep, it was pretty vile. And everywhere I went over the last two days people were talking about last Friday's episode of Tallafornia.
In shops, in cafes, in the office. And mainly it was about THAT lapdance and the events around it. David Norris - no shrinking violet - was so disgusted that he brought it up in the Seanad today.
"I would like to ask for a general debate on the standards in Irish life and what our values are, and I say that having looked at a programme called Tallafornia which is both compulsive and repulsive viewing.
I mean it is really seriously drink sodden programme where young people in my opinion are exploited, three young men, three young women. They're put in an atmosphere of continual drinking, they're encouraged to behave licentiously, they compete to bring people home to bed them. And eh the last episode was really obnoxious in that eh one of these young women who had an interest in somebody who wasn't particularly interested in her managed to bring somebody back to the house and the other guys decided to gang up and take a bet on whether she could be taken from him. And there was simulated relations sexual activity, leaving eventually to full thing and I just wonder what kind of values this is inculcating in people, and if it's appropriate to eh and the language I have to say is something which even in my neck of the woods I wasn't entirely familar with on a habitial basis." transcript via Politics.ie
And when contacted by Thejournal.ie for a reaction to this statement TV3 answered “Tallafornia is exactly what is says on the tin. It’s just about fun and it's a fun programme with a huge following. If David Norris doesn’t want to watch it he can always watch the Late Late Show.”

For those outside Ireland or anyone who hasn't had the luck to watch the show, it's like a very low class version of Geordie Shore or TOWIE. Everyone thinks they're a porn star in a low budget production - but the show is pulling in the numbers. 450,000 tuned in for the last episode.
