Save, Spend, Splurge: Lipsticks that will last all Christmas Day long

Christmas Day is a long one full of eating, drinking and being merry. So from the time you leave your house in the morning, you need to be sure that the makeup you applied stays exactly where you put it and for the duration of the whole day.

These lipsticks are three of my favourites for longevity. Whether you're going to blow out or stay within a strict budget, one of these will make sure your Christmas makeup looks flawless from the start of the day to the finish.

Rimmel's long-lasting lipstick is a two-part system. One end hosts the colour, and the other is a clear gloss to top up throughout the day. This works a treat and stays put all day without feathering or flaking. It also gives you the choice between a matte or shiny finish - you could even change it up halfway throughout the day.

Nars Powermatte Lip Pigment €26

With 17 shades available in this range, the Powermattes lip pigments give you colour lovers some excellent choices in variety. The pointy applicator gives you excellent precision so you may not even need a lip liner. This formula is more gel based than creamy which is ideal for staying power. Work quickly with this one, and for drier lips, it might be best to apply a lip balm beforehand.

With ten shades to choose from, this long-lasting liquid lipstick is worth every penny. Unlike other long-lasting lipsticks, it's slightly shiny but not sticky, so your hair doesn't catch your lips which is always a pleasure in the high winds of Ireland. It's perfect for those with drier lips which, let's face it, is most people in the winter.
