Three combinations for a successfull double cleanse

The double cleanse is the best thing we've learned in skincare in the last three years. There are lots of different ways to do it.

A double cleanse is wonderful for lots of reasons. It's something we should always do and really clean people have probably always been doing it anyway. The fact is it's really simple. Surely we all kinda know that a quick swipe with a cotton pad soaked in micellar water does not suffice. I mean it's obvious that can't remove all traces of makeup along with dirt and grime picked up during the day. You can't even argue ignorance. I imagine every one of you has 'removed' their makeup, only to dry their face in a towel and see a whole heap of orange stuff left behind. Am I right?

If you have experienced the above scenario then I shouldn't have to preach to you. It's a fact that a double cleanse is a necessary annoyance. I hate spending the time to remove every trace of makeup and clean my skin until it's squeaky last thing at night. I know it's importance though. If you want to slow the ageing process it's one of the best things you can do for your skin. The trick is to find a combination that works for you.

The quickest way

This is the quickest double cleanse. It involves micellar water and a Cleanse Off Mitt. It's effective but you don't have the benefits of the skin-loving ingredients in a good cleansing milk or a cosmeceutical face wash. You can remove the majority of your makeup with cotton pads soaked in micellar water. After you give your skin another cleanse with a flannel or a Cleanse Off Mitt for handiness sake. The second step will gently exfoliate your skin and remove traces of the micellar water. Your skin might feel a bit tight after this double cleanse so reach for a great night serum.

The most thorough way

If you actually love taking care of your skin and you don't mind spending the time, use cleansing milk and then face wash using rose water. This method is time consuming but extremely thorough and nourishing. You supplement normal tap water with rose water to avoid using hard, drying water on your skin. Your first cleanse with the milk will remove heavy makeup and hydrate the skin. The second cleanse uses a wash to remove any traces of cleanser and debris left in your pores.

For problem skin

A great combination for problem skin is a great micellar water and salicylic acid wash. The reason being it uses as few ingredients as possible while giving a strong natural cleanse. If you use a micellar water with a base of thermal waters, ideally French, it will remove the majority of makeup without leaving residue and clogging pores. They also tend not to aggravate reactive skin because of the light watery texture and the natural ingredients. Follow with a face wash with salicylic acid in it. Salicylic acid is the most effective ingredient at fighting blackheads and spots.
