The Eyes Have it: Benefits of Eye Serums VS Eye Cream
Lynnie's post on crepiness in the eye area struck a chord with many of us last week, myself included. As Lynnie mentioned in her post, eye cream isn't always the solution for this problem, as many aren't suitable for application so close to the eye, but this is one instance where eye serum comes in very handy.
Formulated to be lighter and more fluid than a cream, serums absorb easily and tend not to leave any residue on the skin's surface. This makes them ideal for application under makeup as they plump up the skin to provide a smoother base for makeup without leaving any oiliness on the surface that will interfere with makeup application.
They are also less likely to migrate into the eye and cause irritation there and so are ideal for applying directly to areas that are closer to the eye, such as the eyelids or corners of the eyes (the general advice for eye creams is not to apply any further in towards the eye than the orbital bone).

Good ingredients to look out for when finding a serum to suit you tend to be hyaluronic acid (which hydrates and plumps up the skin, resulting in a smoother texture) and peptides, which work to increase collagen production (it slows down naturally as we age) and act as antioxidants, helping to reverse thinning in the skin and further plump up fine lines.
My go-to eye serum is Caudalie's Vinexpert Anti-Ageing Serum for Eyes and Lips, €33.50, and Liz Earle also does a lovely Smoothing Line Serum for a reasonable €15, but you'll find options from many different skincare companies.
