The Beaut.ie Reader Review: YSL Rouge Volupté Shine
Last month, we called out to our readers on Twitter and asked if you would like to try out some luxury lipsticks for us. Predictably, a lot of you stepped up to the task, but only one could be chosen. The lovely Emma has been busy trying lipsticks from the YSL Rouge Volupté Shine range: here's how she got on.
I am a lipstick fanatic. I owe too many of them (although, can a girl really own too many lipsticks?), so when I got the chance to test and review YSL ones I was delighted.
I received four of them - yes, four! - and couldn’t believe it. It was Christmas all over again.
The four I received were:
- 42 Baume Midi Minuit
- 46 Orange Perfecto
- 49 Rose St Germain
- 52 Trapeze Pink
As you can see, the packaging is to DIE for, absolutely beautiful. Their gold tubes are so delicate and luxurious; they felt very fancy.

To me, these are just heaven. I find them to be very well pigmented for an oily lipstick. The staying power isn't out of this world, but that's to be expected with this type of formula. I'm unsure about the mango scent too; it's ok for me but, not everyone might like it. However, it certainly makes up for it in other ways. It has SPF 15 also #winner.
The lipsticks have a lovely plumping effect, the colour glides on so smoothly, and I found them to leave a very even and flattering stain to the lip once the glossy effect wears off. It is also buildable as the first application can be quite sheer.
Not only that, I suffer from dry lips and after a week, I can totally say my lips are way more hydrated and nourished than usual.
Rose St Germain is my favourite: it's quite bright and suits my skin tone well.
Have you tried any of these lipsticks yet? What do you think of oil-based lipsticks in general?
Keep an eye out on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for your chance to review something lovely for us.
