3 great skincare tips I learned from my mother
Skincare tips are something we're always willing to listen to. After all, you can never have too much advice, right? Here are some of my favourites taught to me, by my mother.
Skincare tips are always good to hear. Even if you've heard them a hundred times before, it's always good to be reminded of good habits. Especially if you fell off the wagon a bit during the holiday season.
One of the first people most of us ever got advice from was our mum. And that's what we're talking about today - the best skincare tips from our mums. Well, more specifically, the best advice I ever got from my mum. After the new year, we all want a fresh start. And what better place to begin that fresh start, than with our skin?
Here are the top three skincare tips Mum ever taught me.
Moisturise and protect
If there's one thing we all know, it's that nothing says healthy skin quite like a hydrated complexion. And my mum has always had beautiful skin. One of my first memories is watching her applying her Oil of Ulay cream each evening. Eventually, after pestering her about it, she'd let me have a little dab on my nose before bedtime.

Our skin also requires protection though and that is something my mother always made sure I had. Even if I didn't want the sticky, goopy stuff on my face, I was always slathered in SPF as a kid. I'm grateful of it now of course, but thank heavens the formulas have changed is all I'll say.
Make the most of it
As a teenager, I had horrible skin. There's no getting around it, it just was... awful. Being called 'Pizza Face' on a daily basis by cruel kids didn't help of course. But whenever there were little tears about it all, my mum was tell me that it was ok, she'd gone through the same thing at the same age. And that it can only get better. All you can do is make the most of it.
Soon after that, I started to become interested in makeup and the art of transforming skin. So in a way, I did make the most of my skin (and the problems with it) by turning it into a career where I could help people feel a little bit better about themselves sometimes too.
Sleep Well
This is probably the best advice I ever got. Tiredness, stress and lack of sleep can make you feel and look older than your years. It wreaks havoc on your skin. So where possible, relax and get a good nights sleep. Don't feel guilty about having a lie in if you need it. When you wake up, the results will be clear to see.
