Sephora Supermarket Sweep: Nars, Marc Jacobs and Lots More
Anyone who grew up in the 90s will remember the multi coloured mayhem that was Supermarket Sweep, hosted of course by the wonderfully tangoed Dale Winton and his collection of shoulder padded jackets and comedy ties.
And I loved that show, sitting there in my little shell suit and LA Gear light up trainers, singing along to the theme tune “check it out, check it out!” hoping that someone would find an inflatable banana, or the big cash prize of £2000 (these were the days before Who Wants to be a Millionaire). Ah, nostalgia...
Anyway, that’s enough reminiscing. The reason why all this popped into my head recently was because my wonderful brother is currently over in the US and has kindly agreed to brave Sephora to pick up some goodies for me which means I’ve been trawling through their website, trying to whittle down what I want vs what I need, which is never an easy task.
And all this looking/longing got me thinking – what if… Supermarket Sweep did a Sephora special edition (They could call it Sephora Sweep) and then, given free reign of the store, what would end up in my basket?
The first thing that sprung to mind was just how much carnage would ensue - seriously, can you imagine the contestants? As pretty and fluffy as beauty lovers can seem on the outside, when it comes to bagging a bargain there are some tough nuts out there – it could so easily end up more as a Hunger Games situation (albeit in sweet, 90s jumpers).

I digress though, and must get back to planning my imaginary game show. In the original Supermarket Sweep, you could have up to 3 minutes or so to do your trolley dash, depending on how many questions you answered correctly.
Let the timer commence: Here is a list of some of things I’d be making a bee-line for… better start doing some sprint training just in case...
- Marc Jacobs’ Make-up: Having tried & loved the Magic Marc’er pen, nail polishes & highliners previously I’m convinced this range is like my spirit animal so I sort of what all of it now.
- Sephora’s Beauty Closet: A set containing primers, liners, moisturisers and loads more best sellers from top brands like Laura Mercier, Stila & Smashbox.
- NARS Vault: Made up of 10 best selling nail and lip colours this is the luxury kit you’d trip someone over to get to.
- Bite Beauty 5 Night fix for Lips: Pampered, pillowy soft lips are so easily achieved if you treat yo self right.
- Alexis Bittar Brushes: Do you need me to say why? Almost too pretty to use but on the wish list they go none the less.
- Koh Gen Do: This range is pretty small but definitely mighty so I reckon I could scoop up the lot if needed – an industry secret as such, their foundations and powders are always to be found in top make-up artist’s kits like Val Garland and Pat McGrath.
- SK-II: Sitting at the highest point of the high end skin care ranges, SK-II is known to be phenomenal but us mere mortals wouldn’t be likely to shell out €200 on a cream. If it was going free then you’d definitely give it a go thought right?
Tell me, is there anything you'd like to add to that list? And remember, if skincare is your absolute favourite thing, we have a special section dedicated to it right here!
