Rimmel BB Cream 9 in 1 Skin Perfecting Super Makeup: Primes, Mattifies, Good For Oily Skin
Rimmel BB Cream 9 In I has quite an unusual sort of consistency for a BB cream. It's heavier and thicker than other shiny, slippy BBs and is definitely more foundationy than most. The coverage is decidedly medium, there are BB creams that are designed to make you look and feel as if you're wearing no makeup, but this ain't one of them.
It's also worked best for me on the oilier areas of my combination skin. So I'd say oilier skins will get the most out of this product. In the snap you I'm just wearing the BB cream and a tiny scrap of mascara. Lets check out those 9 claims.
- Primes – I’m not sure if I’m into using a BB cream as a primer. I just think there are amazing primers out there that work so well, why would you layer a BB cream with a foundation? That said I gave this a bash under my Mac Mineralise for a night out, and it definitely has that grabby quality you’d get from a more expensive priming product. I did find it made the foundation application a bit tricky, but once BB cream and foundation were in place they were going no-where.
- Moisturises – Hmm, for me this just didn’t feel like a moisturising product at all. It’s so busy mattifying that it seems to SLIGHTLY dry out the skin during the course of the day. I definitely needed my regular moisturiser under it.
- Minimises Pores – Again, because it’s so matte, this product was quite tricky to blend over my (ginormous) pores. Once I had it blended it was nice and concealing, so my pores are probably less visible. But application wise it wasn't exactly foolproof.
- Conceals – This is one of the better BB creams I’ve tried for concealing. Again, it needs careful blending under the eyes so it doesn’t settle into any lines, but once there, it stays put, and my dark circles look much improved. Look at me in the pic - usually I'm eye-bags central - so this has sorted me out without the need for a concealer. Hurrah!
- Covers – Hang on, is this not much the same as concealing? Ok, lets say it covers redness, I think for a medium coverage product it does a good job of covering redness. But as you can see above its a natural look, rather than a flawless finish.
- Smoothes – Hmm, well this is all in the application with this product. My favorite BB cream can be applied in the dark using a baseball mitt and still looks brilliant. This product takes a bit more applying, but worked well once I had the knack.
- Mattifies – Definitely have to give them this one. Rimmel's new foundations are matte-tastic and this BB cream is along the same lines. Even after a day’s wear my usually shine-tastic T-zone is matte city. I really appreciate this in a BB, often the ones that promise dewiness turn me into a greasy disaster area after a couple of hours wear.
- Brightens – I’m not convinced something so matte can brighten exactly the way I’d like it too, I’ll definitely be wearing this with a bit of illuminating powder to avoid over-mattification.
- Protects – Well, it’s SPF 25, so it’s absolutely providing sun protection.

All in all this is a great multi-tasker, but it doesn't do NINE different things so take that promise with a touch of salt. At €9.99 it won't break the bank and is worth a try if you're on the hunt for a non greasy BB.
Have you tried this and what did you make of it?
