Review: Kiehl’s Hydrogel Instant Renewal Sheet Masks for Friday Night luxury
Kiehl’s have brought about their facial oil-infused Hydrogel Instant Renewal Sheet Masks this year for instant, dewy hydration
The excitement of a good sheet mask has reached new heights as your skin absorbs oils, nutrients and breathes a new sense of life with intense hydration. We want to be transformed, and there’s something about a good sheet mask that makes you feel like you have brand new skin in minutes.
You know we're a little bit obsessed with masks and luckily, there are loads of them about. Rebecca tried out one from Image last week, and Sarah tried a little gem from Skyn Iceland.
With the Kiehl’s Instant Renewal mask, the application process was more work than I thought - it has two layers so that it will 'fit all face shapes', but it didn’t fit mine! And the no mess application didn’t work out too well for me either*.
The key to success with the mask is to make sure your skin is clean, having just toned. Carefully unfold the mask, removing the clear backing before applying to the skin.

What I tend to do is smooth the mask from the centre of my face outwards, allowing the oils to soak into your skin and trust me there are plenty of oils to absorb from the Hydrogel with three cold pressed Amazonian oils infused. It’s best to leave it on for ten minutes, but when removing there’s a pretty good chance there’ll be small amounts of oil left on your skin - massage any of the remaining formula into your skin with the tips of your fingers until it’s fully absorbed.
Nonetheless, if I’m honest, I’m not completely sold on the new Hydrogel which is disappointing because as brands go, Kiehl’s is probably my go-to. The thing is, if you suffer from severe dry skin that needs an extra boost of hydration, the masks are probably worth it, especially because you can use them up to four times per week. Nonetheless, for me, it’s that luxurious item I’ll be treating myself to on the one-off or on a Friday night-in as I didn’t feel any ‘wow’ factor afterwards in terms of softness or renewal.
*laughing at your face in the mirror or taking selfies will cause the mask to slide also!
The Instant Renewal Concentrate Sheet Mask kit is €49.00 and available from March 28th in Kiehl’s Wicklow Street store, Dundrum Town Centre, Arnott’s Department Store or Debenhams, Patrick Street, Cork.
