Recycle Your Old Chanel Mascara into Stylin' Designer Earrings - S-oh-S-ew! Shows us How
Spotting this over on Cork fashion blogger Jo Linehan's S-oh-S-ew blog a while ago, I was mad impressed at how clever (and cheap) it was. Determined to do something with her Chanel mascara empties - one of which she'd bought at the brand's Rue Cambon shop, and hey, that deserves to be commemorated - Jo handed them over to her dad, who hacked the ends off before she glued some findings in place to created a pair of earrings from the golden logo-d ends.
The finished product
See, told you it was clever!
Jo's given us permission to reproduce her pictures on Beaut.ie and here's what you'll need to do if you want to recreate her Double C crafty attempt, as per the top picture:

- Your two Chanel mascaras
- Some earring findings - you can buy these in craft shops, Art and Hobby stores or eBay
- A junior hacksaw (which you can get for a couple of quid from the hardware shop) or a jewellery saw, which will give you a much smoother finish. You could finish the ends off on an emery block too, to smooth things out a little
- Superglue, to attach the metal earrings stems to the backs of the logos
So, that's the recipe; the method couldn't be easier: cut the ends off the mascaras, smooth off any snags, glue on your earring findings and away you go.
One of Coco Chanel's most famous quotes is “before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory," so does this pass muster for you? And if so, how would you wear your Double C Mascara earrings?
