Prime Position: Lancome Oscillation Powerboost & Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer

We're priming crazy round these here parts: mad fanz of Urban Decay and Too Faced's eye offerings, we drooled over some new UD offerings last week and of course, lots of us are a tad fond of Photo Finish primer as well.

So how's about another couple of them to clutter up your makeup bag? Eyes have it today, with the lowdown on Smashbox's new Photo Finish Lid Primer and the about-to-land Oscillation Power Booster from Lancome.

Lets kick off with the whizzy wonder. I've mentioned a few times how much I adore my Lancome Oscillation mascara. Sadly, it's a bit old and cranky now, whizzing asthmatically in a bockety manner and I think it's time to retire it. Just in time for this, in fact. Power Booster lands on counter on August 1st, and will cost you €30.

Backed up by all sorts of facts and figures, it claims to contain "a groundbreaking complex - Crescentia™ - associated with vibration to stimulate lashes at their base, and maximise the make-up results of any mascara." Essentially, this is a great first step before your regular product  - or a coloured, sparkly version - and will give you all the volume and length you want in a quick priming step.

Of course, you could just buy the original, but then you wouldn't be making Lancome as much money as they'd like, eh? Anyway, cynic though I might be, I'd love to get my paws on this.

The other product du jour is Smashbox's Photo Finish Lid Primer. In a way, I'm amazed it's taken them this long to launch a lid lovely (who said I had no talent at aliteration?) and it's going to be a good addition, I reckon. I never liked putting the original on my eyes as it's just a bit heavy, but this version contains "Phytomoist, a plant-based hyaluronic acid which sustains moisture levels and amino acids for skin-smoothing benefits, while the patented Qusome® delivery system ensures quick absorption of all ingredients."

Mattifying for oilier types, it also claims to reduce the look of fine lines on dry lids, thanks to the use of 'soft focus pearls'. Bag it now for €22 at Smashbox counters nationwide.
