Most Wearable Runway Trends for SS15
Couture runway make-up doesn't always translate into real life situations (pastel brows anyone?) but there are times when we can pick up fresh ideas to avoid getting into a make-up rut.
By their very nature, Ready to wear collections tend to produce the more wearable trends for make-up and this season there are plenty to choose from whether you're a lipstick lover, lashes fanatic or fresh faced beauty.
- Hot Lips
Red is back in a big way this season for lips having been seen at Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel couture, Burberry and more besides so it’s the perfect season to try out something more adventurous if (like me) you were sticking to nudes over the cooler months.
For day to day wear a product like NYC Smooch Proof Liquid lip stain in “Get Noticed” (€3.49) is really purse friendly but I also love Topshop Lip Ombre in "Baffle" (€12) which offers up 2 shades in one go for colour that lasts all day without leaving lips feeling dry.

- Purple shades on the eyes
Purple may not be everyone’s go to shade for eyes but it has made a serious come back this year. To avoid looking like you’ve been in a bar fight stick to soft, dusty shades like lilac or mauve and mix up textures between creamy shadows and powder for more interest.
Maybelline’s Color Tattoo in Painted Purple is lovely when concentrated close to lashes and then blended out with a touch of liquid concealer to soften it – alternatively Lancome Colour Design Infinite "Violet" (€25.50) is a beautiful powder shadow. For a subtler finish, the limited edition NARS Christopher Kane Multiple (€41) gives a futuristic blue/pink sheen to eyes depending on how it catches the light.
- Barely There
The real trick to perfecting a barely there look begins before make-up with a little skin prep beforehand so for a smoother base that make-up glides over be sure to cleanse, tone and exfoliate skin. For an added glow I always like to add a touch of MAC strobe cream (€10 for 30ml) before foundation blending along cheekbones, brow bone, down the bridge of the nose and on the cupids bow to highlight.

For perfectly groomed brows you can’t go wrong with Make Up Forever Aqua Brow kits(€40), which come in 7 shades to suit different complexions. Define lips with a nude lip liner, blended from the outer lip line inwards using a cotton bud and then tap on a balm or clear gloss for a subtle sheen.
- Romantica
Fluttery lashes, pink cheeks and rosebud lips were seen at both Derek Lam and Versace who decided to ditch any kind of edge or attitude and instead, keep things pretty and youthful.
For Bambi style eyes, try adding a few individual lashes to the outer edge of eyes and then apply mascara to blend them together. If you're more of a strip lash fan, I love The Vintage Cosmetic Company "Betty" lashes (€8).
I rounded up some of my favourite pink lipsticks recently which included the gorgeous L’Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick in Pink Fashionista (€11.99).
- Outdoorsy
Think hiking trips or a day at the beach, the outdoorsy take on the runways this season concentrated on naturally flushed cheeks and a warm glow to skin. To master this look start with a natural base such as L'Occitane Immortelle BB Cream SPF30 (€35) and then add like Armani Maestro Liquid bronzer SPF15 (€49) to give skin a summery, healthy feel.
A tinted balm for lips, brushed up brows and natural, nude shades swept over eyes complete the look for a "didn't try too hard" finish.
Do any of these makeup looks take your fancy? Do you like to add a trend or two to your makeup as seasons change or do you prefer to stay with a signature look?
