Maybelline Fit Me Foundation, Concealer, Powder: Review, Pics, Swatches and FOTD
We went nuts this summer over YSL's latest foundation, Le Teint Touche Eclat, with its flattering light reflective qualities and mahoosive shade range that - gasp! - actually catered for different undertones in the skin. Well, hooray for technology sharing within the L'Oreal family! Fast forward a couple of months and Maybelline have come up with something that's really rather similar, and at a more purse friendly pricepoint. (Just like they did with the YSL Glossy Stains - check out our review of the Maybelline version here).
With 12 shades in the range (there are 6 more in the US, boo!) and an SPF of 18, the Fit Me range is split into three categories - Fair Skin (100s), Medium Skin (200s) and Dark Skin (300s) - catering for either pink or yellow undertones. I was sent shade 130, Buff Beige, which is yellow toned and the darkest in the fair category, and it's actually a pretty decent match. Likewise the powder in 120, classic ivory, and concealer in 20. So we were off to a good start - and things just got better from there.
The foundation's lovely and lightweight, with a very thin, fluid formula that spreads and blends well. Coverage is light to medium but buildable, and though it doesn't bill itself as a light reflecting foundation, it does this job really nicely and gives a natural, luminous 'real skin' finish. It lasts till the end of the working day (with a quick powder top up at lunchtime) and feels entirely weightless on the skin.

The concealer is also quite thin which means it works particularly well under the eyes - although the shade I have is really too dark for that, so I've been using it for redness around the nose and to cover blemishes. It does these jobs fine but if you have a bugger of a spot you would need a couple of layers, sandwiched with powder, to properly hide it. And sadly, yes, I am speaking from experience.
As for the powder, it's another hit! The packaging is quite high-end across all three products but the powder is particularly pleasing, with its double tiers, pretty pink puff and mirror. I've used it with a brush but I actually prefer pressing it on with the puff - it's silky, lightweight and mattifies without any caking or chalkiness.
Maybelline Fit Me foundation is a snip at €11.99; I'll update price details for the powder and concealer when I have them, but expect them to be similarly well priced.(Edit: they're both €8.99). It's all on stands now - have you tried 'em yet? Do you plan to?
