Maybelline Color Elixir: Affordable, Good Quality Addition to the Bright Brigade. Review, Pics, Swatches
When it comes to lips, all things bright and beautiful seem to be trending about Beaut towers of late. Bright lips pump energy in to a tired face, but for the less daring a cute bright gloss rather than a striking matte lipstick may be the better option.
And if you have dried or dehydrated lips because of central heating or air conditioning, gloss can be a lot more flattering.
And these little pretties from Maybelline are fab. I road tested two and I was impressed with the pigment payoff in both.
The strength of shade is great, so you get that bright colour you are looking for without the feeling of having gone overboard. They both have the smooth feeling of a lip balm.
But what I really loved was the brush. It contours to your lips perfectly, unlike so many rubbishy applicators you get with other glosses. It's now all about contouring the lips, covering every angle to pump up the volume.

These two will work great even coming into Autumn as they are sheer enough to pair with a smokey eye. They also will work to freshen up your face if you have zero time in the morning to be playing around with eye makeup.
I love these type of shades because the power of a brightening gloss is huge. One of the quickest ways to give a youthful look to your face is dewy skin, a pop of blusher and a bright lip. As as a makeup artist, I still hear so many women saying that they are too old to wear gloss but the truth is it can be so flattering.

Always remember matte lips can have a tendency to draw colour from the skin so if you are looking for something quick and easy that works for everyone, a gloss is the way to go.
Maybelline's Color Elixir glosses will set you back just under ten euros, and will be available nationwide from September. The quality is super - my makeup kit is full of high end brand lip glosses but of late I find myself reaching for these little guys. They have a super rich feeling to them and have good lasting power.
I am one of those people who usually cannot STAND a sticky gloss feeling but I find these rather comforting. And about ten people asked me in one day what I was wearing on my lips when I wore the pinker shade, so throw in a few aul compliments and I'm sold.
