We all have that one favourite perfume we use sparingly because although it smells divine it just doesn't last very long.

Here are some tips to help make your favourite perfume last longer throughout the day so you don't use it up too quickly.

1. Apply To Your Pulse Points

Perfume reacts to heat so applying it to the parts of the body that are warmest will help it last longer.

Your pulse points are the parts of the body where blood pumps closest to the skin, this includes your wrist, inner elbow, neck and behind the knees.

2. Never rub perfume in

Many people believe that perfume needs to be rubbed into the skin to spread the scent and help it to warm up but this is actually not true.

Rubbing the scent onto skin breaks down some of the top fragrance notes in perfumes which of course isn't ideal.

So instead of rubbing the fragrance, gently dab perfume onto the skin as this won't damage the scent.

3. Ensure your skin is moisturised before application

Perfume lasts longer on oily skin so before applying it, moisturise using unscented body lotion.

Don't forget to moisturise your pulse points too.

It's best to apply perfume immediately after moisturising as this helps to lock in the scent, making it last longer.

4. Store perfume correctly

Ideally, perfume is stored in a cool, dry place and away from direct sunlight.

It should never be kept in the bathroom as the changing temperature and dampness will cause the perfume to expire faster.

You can store perfumes in your bedroom. Why not display them on a shelf or on top of a chest of drawers or vanity and have them double as room decor.
