Liz Earle Answers YOUR Questions - The Results #3
Welcome to part three of our exclusive and rather fab Q&A with Liz Earle, the co-founder of Liz Earle Naturally Active Skincare. She's taken us through six thorny questions at this stage, including at-home facial techniques and why there are no SPFs in her moisturisers. Today she's dishing the dirt on job opportunities, her famous customers and whether or not products can cause overload on the skin.
Does Liz have any jobs going in Dublin? I always love reading their company newsletters - it sounds like a fab company to work for!
We are growing at a phenomenal rate and since my business partner, Kim Buckland and I set up the company in 1995 we have grown from our little team of 2 to over 300 people at our offices on the bonny Isle of Wight. At present we don’t have any posts in Ireland, although with our recent Dublin launch in Wilde and Green and our US launch we do have many exciting international projects planned, so please keep checking our website for recruitment opportunities. We always welcome speculative applications too, so if you would like to work for us, please do get in touch to be kept on our books for any possible future positions.
I’d like to know whether Liz has any famous customers, and whether she gives them freebies!
We have a few famous fans of the range, including Erin O'Connor and Jodie and Jemma Kidd who have been quoted several times in magazines as being fans. Also Dame Judi Dench, Emma Thompson and even Orlando Bloom for our men’s range! Danni Minogue popped into our London store recently and lots of top models love the range too (including a couple of top, top supermodels – but as they haven’t gone public I’m afraid I can’t reveal who they are – just look for the radiant skins!!). We give some products away, especially to support charity events in goody bags etc but most of our famous faces do actually come and buy their favourites!

Is it possible to overload your skin if using all the different products in the range? I'm beginning to wonder if the deep-rooted, crisis spots I continue to get on my forehead are the result of TOO much attention given to my skin.
Sometimes break outs and deep-rooted spots can be an indication of a build up of toxins in your liver. In the winter months your liver can become overloaded as your liver function slows down, and comfort food cravings and too much sugar, alcohol or coffee are too acidic for your liver to process, this in turn can lead to spots in the forehead area. A mini detox can help cleanse internally refresh your system and it may not be your skincare regime which is causing blemishes.
I don’t believe you need to overload your skin with a dozen products each day. Skincare should be simple and the 3 easy steps to healthy beautiful skin are to cleanse, tone and moisturise twice daily. Other products, masks and treatments can be integrated into your routine according to your individual skincare needs.
Products such as our Deep Cleansing Mask, Gentle Face Exfoliator, Brightening Treatment and Spot-On are our ‘Problem Solvers’ for blemish-prone skin and are a fantastic way of targeting problem areas, as and when they occur, such as deep rooted spots. Integrating these treatments into your routine twice weekly can help to keep skin problems under control, but I wouldn’t use them all every day. Don’t forget to drink plenty of water, increase your intake to around 2 litres a day if you have break-outs. For more information, take a look at our factsheet on acne on the website as this also has general guidance for spots too.
