Inside my Stash: YSL Fard Lumiere Aquaresistant in Amethyst Grey

I dug out a pile of neutral, mink, brown and cream shadows recently to snap 'em for the blog and never got to it, because one captured my attention so completely I wandered off to try it, task forgotten. I've hardly used anything else since.

Having had a bit of a turnaround back to satin-finished and slightly shimmery shades of late, YSL's Fard Lumiere Aquaresistant in Amethyst Grey, a previously completely neglected pot of gloop, really caught my eye when I was rooting through my Large Tub of Eyeshadows (tm). Grey might be in the shade name but this is a mink. And a beautiful mink at that. But I think the reason I passed over it for so long was because, well, lets be frank - it doesn't look like much in the pot, does it? Er, no.

A cream consistency, this feels cooling when it goes on and can be blended with fingers or a brush. But be quick - the 'play time' isn't long and once it sets, it's set. It really won't budge and it's waterproof, so it's particularly good for this time of year when makeup seems to melt off in seconds. Creasing's not an issue I've noticed either, and this makes a really good addition to a super-quick morning routine - which I personally refuse to give more than about five minutes to.

It's also really nice for night when worn with red lips and a lick of black liner, and can of course be used to add extra intensity to powder shadows or to hold them in place, so I'm pretty pleased about this re-discovery. A part of last summer's YSL collection, it's a permanent product and you'll be able to pick one up for about €29 - pricey, I know, but you get 6.4g of product in the pot which is decent.

A swatch is after the cut.

This is applied quite thickly so it'd show up properly on skin, but you can sheer it out more. The result is a lovely subtly shimmery neutral finish and is a huge amount nicer from the sludge-shade it appears in the pot.
