Why does my hair always feel greasy?
There is no better feeling then washing your hair when it is in need of a good scrub.
The fresh feeling is amazing and for me, I feel like a new woman!
But, could washing your hair too often ironically making your greasy hair a bigger problem?
What causes greasy hair?
The most common cause, which may actually surprise you is over-shampooing. Over massaging the shampoo into your scalp can also exacerbate the problem. When you massage your scalp you cause the sebaceous glands to actually produce more oil thus more grease in your hair.
What is sebum?

Sebum is an oil secreted from the sebaceous gland. It plays an essential role in keeping your hair healthy. It keeps your scalp moisturised and prevents the hair becoming brittle. But having too much sebum on your scalp can cause your hair become greasy.
What are the causes of increased sebum?
Over stimulation of the scalp as above is a cause of increased sebum production. But there can be other factors too. Hormones play a huge part and over use of products which can dry out the hair can also mean the sebaceous gland will over compensate with more sebum.
So, Whats a girl to do?
First things first stop washing your hair so much. When you do wash it use gentle shampoos and only as much as you need. It can take up to two to three weeks for the scalp to restore its balance and stop producing excess sebum and produce the correct amount of oils for the hair to be healthy.
