Our 3 favourite illuminating creams for that summer glow
Illuminating creams are a must for every makeup I do. They give your skin that healthy glow and can turn any foundation into dewy perfection.
We love dewy skin, especially in summer when everybody is looking to achieve that sun-kissed glow. Using an llluminator will help you get the glowing skin, you just have to choose the right one for your skin type. If you have an oily skin type you probably won't like something too shiny and moist. If you choose the wrong one you will end up looking greasy rather than 'dewy'. On the other hand, if you have dry skin you'll need one that is really moist and won't gather in places to look like shimmery patches of dry skin.
Here are three of our favourites.
MAC Strobe Cream €34
Strobe Cream is a classic and it now comes in different colours. Pinklite is the original and still my favourite. It's ideal for a normal to dry skin. It can be a little too moist for oilier skin types so if you want to use this one on oily skin I would recommend just a touch tapped onto specific areas. You could tap a little under foundation (for a more subtle effect) or on top of your foundation just along the tips of your cheekbones and along the jawline.
On a dry skin type, this cream is amazing. You can use it all over as your moisturiser before foundation and then mix a little in with our usual foundation to make it really dewy and glowy.

Jane Iredale Golden Shimmer Face and Body Lotion €38
This one is a mineral based illuminator will all good-for-skin ingredients in it. It has a golden shimmer to it so it is divine with a tan. I love to use this on collar bones and arms when I'm wearing tan to really set the tan off. It is suitable for all skin types both dry and oily. There is no greasy finish so it won't make your makeup slide. Golden Shimmer works well on all skin types as a hydrating illuminating makeup base.
Sleek Barekissed Illuminator €11.49
This one is slightly less skincare and more makeup. Ideal for adding shimmer to your makeup without quite the same hydrating properties of the other two. If you are all about the cheekbones on point this is beautiful. It's like a creamy highlighter and comes in a few different colours. We love Pompei, a gorgeous brown shimmer, for summer with tan. It will work really well with makeup or mixed with a little foundation for a more subtle effect.
I like to use a stifle brush and a tiny amount of product lightly along the tips of the cheekbones. You can go heavier along the collar bones if you wish.
