Purple Shampoo: The only way to keep blonde hair brassiness at bay
Brassiness is to blondes what Jar Jar Binks is to Star Wars: it kinda ruins it. That's why you need purple shampoo
I have been going through what seems like an endless struggle to remove the warm tones from my hair. I want it a certain way for my wedding (like a lot of brides do) and it's taking me so long to get there. My vision is my natural dark brown shade, with bits of clean blonde in it to break it up a bit. Turns out that is a lot to ask.
With the help of Aimee from Sugar Cubed who has been my knight in shining tin foil, I think my hair will be the way I want it for the big day in five weeks (five weeks, eek!) time. The last hair treatment I had removed 90% of the brassiness, but there was still a bit to go, so Aimee advised me to use a purple shampoo to neutralise the warm and brassy tones.
Every blonde or person with blonde 'bits' should use a purple shampoo. Just like how you neutralise redness in your skin with a green concealer, this works is with basic colour correction. Purple is opposite yellow on the colour wheel, so by using the purple pigment, it sticks to the brassy tones in your hair, neutralising the yellow tones.

GK Purple Miami Bombshell €22.95
I used the GK Miami Bombshell, a purple shampoo that Sugar Cubed stock. And it really did the trick. You can use it as a conditioner, but I left it on for about 30 minutes (don't worry, it's allowed!) to get stronger results. It calmed down the brassiness, and my hair just looked better after. It's enriched with keratin and protein to help strengthen the hair, so maybe that's why.
The difference between GK products and other purple shampoos is that they are all made with Juvexin, a natural product derived from sheep wool through an environmentally kind process. It's actually the first and only product of its kind to do use this technology. I think this shampoo is great for anyone with any kind of blond in their hair, and especially for those with warm tones.
The purple shampoo is not the only product in the range, and if you're looking for a natural way to de-frizz, repair, condition, and protect hair, I'd recommend checking it out.
