Have we gone and found the perfect day-to-night eye palette?
We love makeup that works as hard as we do. This week's small but mighty eye palette definitely ticks all the boxes.
So often we see eye palettes with 10, 12, even 15 or 20 shades that, at first glance, seem like everything you could ever need. You know the type, they cost and arm and leg, but you justify the price because it's worth it. And, of course, you'll never, ever need another palette again for your entire life. Seriously, never, ever again. We've all been there.
The reality is, we're creatures of habit and even with good intentions of using all the shades in our fabulous palettes, we usually have three or four go-to shades we actually use. That is where the beauty of the neat Four Colour Eye Palettes from Clarins (€43) comes into play.
The brand has just launched their new AW16 collection and while there were lots of lovely pieces including a fabulous face mask and new lip colours, it was these that really caught my attention.

In total, there are three variations of the palettes: No1 Nude, No2 Rosewood and No3 Brown. The palette I have is Rosewood which features some beautiful brown/purple shades that would work beautifully on grey, green or blue eyes. The packaging is neat, as I said, but the shadows themselves are a large size (I hate when it's all packaging and the shadows are teeny tiny!).

Texturally, the shadows are very soft, and blend easily whether you choose to use just one shade as a wash of colour or blend four together for more depth. The wet/dry formula is a plus as well. It gives you the option to boost the opacity of the shades, or alternatively, use the darker tones as a gel/cream eyeliner for added definition.

Sometimes it is the simpler things that work out the best. Having just four shades in these palettes really appeals to me. I'm not alone in loving them, though. Celebrity makeup artist Ruby Hammer chose the Nude No1 as her Pick of the Day recently on Twitter. She said it "stands out as the Winter palette to have, taking you through to the new year!". I couldn't agree more.
For me, though, I think these are the perfect day-to-night palettes. You can quickly do a sweep of one or two shades for day and then add more drama come evening.
Do you like the look of these palettes too? Or do you prefer more choice?
