Smashed powder products are never easy to let go of. But the great news is, you don't have to! We have a handy tip for making them like new again.

Smashed powder... it's a sad ol' sight. Of course, inevitably it's your favourite one, or worse yet a brand new one. Whether it's an accident someone else caused, or a case of butterfingers, sometimes things just go flying. We've all been there, looking down at the wreckage wondering if there is any way to salvage it. The good news is that there is a way. And we're here to tell you how.

Dropping stuff is part and parcel of life. But let's face it, it isn't pretty, is it? We bet this picture is all too familiar... Let's put thoughts of smashed powder out of our minds, though, and talk about how to fix it.

What you'll need

First off, you'll need some rubbing alcohol (also known as isopropyl alcohol). This can be purchased in pharmacies and in some specialist makeup shops as well. Next, you'll need your broken compact. Finally, you'll need a spoon or some cling film.

What to do

Unfortunately, in order to fix your makeup, you have to first ruin it a little bit more. To help the repair look smoother, start by breaking up any larger pieces of powder that are floating around. Then, add a few drops of isopropyl alcohol to the compact, and let it soak in.

The next step is to smooth out the product. You can do this by using the back of a spoon, or alternatively by wrapping your fingertips in cling film and then smoothing it out. Another way that some people do it is to place the cling film over the compact and then rub and smooth it down that way. Leave it to dry overnight and hey presto! Your compact is good as new again.
