Evian - it's not just for drinking...
Evian Brumisateur Mineral Water Spray has been around for a while, but it seems people can still be a bit doubtful about what a product that is basically water in a can is capable of doing for the skin. To start with, the balance of minerals in Evian water can be very beneficial, particularly for soothing sensitive skin. I've been using water sprays like this for a number of years now and here are some of the ways I love to use them:
- After cleansing, spray onto clean, dry skin. This refreshes the skin and when you apply your moisturiser, you will find it really helps it to absorb into the skin.
- To apply or blend foundation with a sponge. Lightly spray the surface of a makeup sponge with the water and then remove any heavy residue on the surface by dabbing it onto the back of your hand. Then apply or blend foundation. It doesn't soak the sponge as much as running it under the tap would, and it makes it easier to blend the foundation.
- To set or refresh makeup. The pressurized cans are great for this as they ensure a fine spray; hold the can a bit further away from your face and lightly mist it over your makeup to set it after application or to refresh it later in the day.

- To hydrate your skin during long-haul travel. Evian and many others also produce smaller versions of the water sprays which are perfect for travel - keep your skin bare during a long-haul flight and every so often refresh with the water spray. You can simply pat it into the skin afterwards, or apply a little moisturiser over the top, which helps the skin to retain moisture.
- To dampen eye makeup for a more intense finish. Using water from the tap can cause a lot of mess, but using a water spray to dampen either the brush or the surface of the eye shadow before applying makes this method a lot easier - I love to use this method with the Laura Mercier cake liner.
Evian Brumisateur is widely available in Boots and other pharmacies. You can also get similar water sprays from La Roche-Posay, Vichy, Avene and Caudalie.
