Buy The Book: Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual
It's been out since January, but I got my paws on Bobbi Brown's latest makeup book, Makeup Manual, late last week.
Over the weekend I've been giving it the once over and it's a good'un. There's just so much packed in here that it supersedes her previous books almost completely - if you're a hardened liner-wielder you'll get as much out of this as a novice will. It's nicely encylopaediac - meaning you can dip in and out for reference as you please - and definitely has something for all.
Her previous book, Living Beauty, was a tome aimed at the over 40s and while it was chock-full of great images - one of the strongest things about the Bobbi Brown brand is always the graphics, I reckon - and excellent advice, it wasn't as much use to me, being out of the demographic.

This feller, though, has it all, as there are two core aims. Basics contains her obligatory ten steps, as well as tons and tons of really helpful how-tos with lavish step-by-step pictures - see some demo images for a smokey eye, above. But what really sets the book apart is the section on artistry. This is inspirational, colorful and is very much Bobbi Brown, the makeup artist, as you've never seen her. It also has helpful advice for aspiring MUAs and loads of advice for pros (equally as fascinating to the talented and interested amateur), a history of makeup in bite-sized nuggets and sneak peeks into her essential kit.
