Blue Eyeshadow Is Back Baby Back! Will You Be Trying The Trend?
It was all over the SS13 runways, Natalie Portman rocked it in the latest Dior campaign and Nicole Ritchie wore it to the Golden Globes. Yep, whether it’s cobalt, royal or teal, there’s no getting away from it: blue eyeshadow is back with a bang.

No need to panic, though – blue is surprisingly wearable, and there really is a shade to suit us all. Ease your way in with a navy smokey eye – it’s less harsh than black or grey, and more flattering. Or try a sheer wash of powder blue on the lid; worn with a nude lip, it feels fresh and modern.
A bright flash of liner – like the one's I've shown you from Lancome and Estee Lauder - can really lift the complexion and enhance both the colour and whites of your eyes. Wear it on the upper or lower lashline, or, if you’re feeling adventurous, both.
For dimension and contrast, try a pale, shimmery blue on the lid, with a matte neutral in the crease - I like Naked 2 or Faint, which are both from the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette.

And if you're planning on rocking the look, give your pink lipsticks and blushers a break – they’ll look way too Barbie. Go for nudes, peaches or corals instead, which will liven the compexion and really complement the blue.
L-R: Bourjois, Smashbox, Essence, Estee Lauder
My current favourites include this pearly duck-egg Bourjois number, Bleu Passe, from the spring collection which is on stands now. Apply it dry for a watercolour like wash of colour, or dampen the brush for a more opaque finish. It’s €10.99. I also like this essence offering, part of the brand’s new Disney inspired trend edition, Oz the great and powerful. It’s a pale and shimmery sky blue, and it’s just €2.49.
The Smashbox palette is one of two from the recent Love Me collection - this one is Entice Me and as well as a gorgeous glittering midnight blue there's a sky blue, purple and two gorgeous neutral shades - and all for €32. It's limited edition so if you want it, run! Estee Lauder's Ultra Marine has a special place in my heart - this lovely teal shade was released last summer (and was also limited edition -soz!).
Top to bottom: Rimmel, Artdeco, NYC
As for the liners, Artdeco's Magic Liner in Blue Marguerite, €15.60, is new for spring, part of the Butterfly Dreams collection that's in Debenhams now. Soft and creamy, it's a gorgeous shimmering midnight blue. I showed you that bright blue Rimmel pencil here, and the pale blue is from NYC, an absolute bargain at just €1.49.
