Although Shiseido is often noted for their skin care, it's the mascara that's the real hidden gem in their collection. As volumising mascaras go, Full Lash Volume is faultless. When applied, lashes are instantly longer, fuller and more dramatic for hours on end. The formula doesn't smudge, fade or transfer, but is easy to remove come the evening time. Thumbs up all round!

• L'Oreal Paris Paradise Extatic Mascara €16.50

Currently on offer in Boots for €13.99, this high street mascara is a fantastic option for day to day. The formula delivers dramatic lashes in just one coat and doesn't flake or crumble. Something else to love is the wand. The brush has extra soft bristles so is particularly gentle against eyes (it's the little things in life, isn't it?).

• Clarins Supra Volume Mascara €26

Aside from being a fantastic volumising mascara, the Supra Volume formula has carnauba and cassie flower waxes included, which help to condition and care for lashes, making them stronger so they don’t fall out quite as quickly. Ultimately that means you have more natural fullness/volume for the product to work with.

•  Essence Lash Princess Volume Mascara €4.10

Remember we said that price didn't always match performance? The cult favourite Lash Princess is a perfect example of that. At under €5, it's our most budget-friendly pick, but it's also one of the best volumising mascaras available. Hurrah for purse-friendly beauty buys!
