Bare Minerals In The Spotlight Christmas Kit
Our pages have been a bit like a Christmas pudding these days, absolutely saturated in the good shtuff. And by good stuff we mean Christmas gift ideas. Some we love, others we could leave and some we like because they are really good value.
The Bare Minerals In the Spotlight set is a small un' but a fairly good 'un. Maybe it's because I am a sucker for nice looking make-up bags - and I would use this one as a going-out bag so I would - and maybe it's because I find make-up bags all the better for having nice things already in them, but I wouldn't mind getting this kit under the tree on Christmas Day.
Now let's knock, knock open wide and see what has been put inside. First thing, I am very happy to see a little leaflet included. It lists everything that should be inside and gives instructions on how to get the 'In The Spotlight' look.
The line-up:
- Centre Stage Eyecolour
- Flawless Diamond Eyecolour
- Luminary Blush
- Mini Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Be a Star
- Tapered Shadow and Crease Brush
- NEW Shummer Glaze Lip Topcoat in Diamond Glaze.

I think it's a pretty all-inclusive set. It's hardly revolutionary but it's nice to see full size items (apart from the lipstick) but unfortunately, full sized products raise the price. The addition of the new Shimmer Glaze Lip Topcoat is a good one. I usually go for the matte look but the sparkle season always brings out the Liza Minelli in me so I couldn't resist smathering it on.
That's me wearing my usual red lipstick, not lined and smudged by my finger for my I rushed-getting-ready-this-morning look. The snap on the right shows me with the shimmer top coat and lips parted in a sultry way. Seductive, non?
I have to say I really like it! It leaves that cold tingly feeling that lets me know it's still on and the shimmer is lip-plumping and subtle. I swatched it on my hand and the result was unexpected. It might glue my eye-lid to my brow bone, but I am wearing this over my shadow this Christmas!
To be honest, the selling point for me is the bag that I so desperately want (to show off in the pub toilet at home this Christmas.) And the Shimmer Glaze of course. Here's hoping they release this lip shimmer as a stand alone in Ireland soon - watch this space. Anyway, although the set is worth £112 it still comes in at a rather pricey £49 - about €62. You can only get the kit online from the Bare Minerals UK website hence the price in sterling.
Would you go out of your way to order this Christmas kit for yourself or as a present? Do you buy sets for the sake of one or two items? How do you feel about that cold, tingly feeling that some lip glosses present? To the comments!
