Autumn Beauty Bulletin: Best of the New Season Launches
This week, the Irish summer finally got with the programme but, while we’re in no way ready to wave buh-bye, the AW15 beauty drops are coming our way. Autumn is always a wonderful season for makeup and this year is no different, with some exceptionally covetable bits and pieces headed to a beauty counter near you.
The Chanel autumn collection lands today (14th August) and let’s just take a moment to swoon over this campaign visual, shall we? It sums up everything that’s wonderful about this coming season and, while pretty much everything in the collection is covetable and wearable, there are two really special eyeshadow palettes that make my heart beat just that little bit faster.
Entrelacs, €56, is a limited edition palette of five matte and satin shadows in the most delicious neutral shades, from velvety beige to deepest chocolatey brown. If golden khaki, copper and peach are more to your liking, check out Les 4 Ombres in Tissé d'Automne, €50 – these colours will be insanely flattering on Celtic skintones.
The deep brown Le Vernis nail polish in Chataigne may be limited edition, but I reckon the ‘It’ nail shade for autumn will be Vert Obscur, a mysterious and moody blackened blue-green - wear it super shiny or with the brand’s velvet top coat for a matte effect. There’s also a brick red, Ecorce Sanguine; they’re each €23.50.

I’m also rather smitten with Bobbi Brown’s new season nail offerings in the shimmering Smoky Topaz or stunningly sophisticated Greige, both €15. I’m always drawn to earthier tones like these as the seasons change and I plan to visit both of these on counter after payday.
Finally, the limited edition Pretty Day and Pretty Night palettes from Clarins, €38, are both stunning and worthy of your time and hard-earned cash. But it’s the new shades of Ombre Matte single shadows that have got me hot under the collar – especially Heather, €22.50, a gorgeous mauvey taupe that manages to be a little bit edgy and a little bit chic, all at the same time. And the formula of these cream-to-powder shadows is unreal: smooth and blendable, with a long-lasting matte finish.
Anything calling your name from the new season collections?
