Ask & You Shall Receive - What's the Deal with my Foundation?

Ask & You Shall Receive - What's the Deal with my Foundation?

Colette got in touch with a query regarding her foundation. She switched over to Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation after using Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish for years. She says, "I do not like the finish of the Armani foundation, it is inclined to sit on the skin like a mask (rather than blending in) and does not last well during the day"

She tells me that her skin is in good nick and she moisturises before applying her base. She also uses a good brush to apply the foundation. Her query is basically this - because it's not working for her, is she doing something wrong?

I think you've answered your own question already - you say you don't like it. I think that's a pretty good reason to stop using it, to be honest! It obviously doesn't suit your skin type and so it's never going to work brilliantly for you. I would recommend that you go back to your old tried and trusted or look for another product that's similar in formulation.

I know it's so easy to be swayed to a new product based on a recommendation from someone who's found it to be brilliant, but something like foundation is way more personal than an eyeshadow or lipgloss - it must work with your skin. Flawless Finish is oil based and Luminous Silk is oil free, and I think that's your answer.

Other brands who do good oil-based foundations are MAC (Hyper Real foundation), NARS (Balanced Foundation) or Clinique also do good oil based foundations. Laura Mercier Flawless Face Moisturizing Foundation sounds like it'd be a good one to try also. But if in any doubt, ask for a sample before you buy.
