5 brilliant beauty buys that cost less than lunch
Budget makeup has come a long way over the past few years, and while there will always be certain products we like to invest in there’s something to be said for the little things that don’t cost a bomb – actually, these don’t even cost as much as lunch!
- Essence I Love Stage Eye Shadow Base €3.10
For days when you need you eye shadow to last a little bit longer, or want to bump up the intensity of the shade, this little guy (part of the new SS16 collection) is perfect. The rosé shade is particularly good as it helps to
The rosé shade is particularly good as it helps to neutralise any tiredness or blue/grey tones around the lid area. To apply, simply swipe it over the lids and blend with your fingers or a brush.
- Maybelline Colour Show Nails in “Bubbilicious” €4.55
Nothing feels more like summer has finally arrived than breaking out a pair of sandals and giving your toes a pop of colour. Maybelline has a really extensive range of colours within the Show collection, but this vibrant pink is one of my all time favourites as it looks great with, or without a tan.

- Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water 125ml €2.99
Micellar water is one of the most useful skin care products to have in your bag when travelling or heading out after work. Aside from being able to remove make-up, you can also correct any little mistakes such as eyeliner that has gone rogue, or a smudged lip line. I like the Garnier version, but always found the big bottle very cumbersome which is why this neat 125ml one is great for on the go.

Rimmel ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner €4.95
These liners rival many of the higher end versions I’ve tried over the years offering a soft, highly pigmented shot of colour every time, especially the black and cobalt blue (which is very on trend which season). For brighter, more wide awake eyes, try the nude shade on the inner water line.
Catrice All Matt Plus Shine Control Powder €3.95
Shine be gone! This has a silky texture and lightweight finish so won’t feel heavy on your skin during the warmer weather (keeping my fingers crossed it that it lasts long than just the weekend). Dust it down the T-Zone to keep cheeks dewy or all over for a natural, matte finish.
