Beaut.ienomics: Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid

Months can go  by on Beaut.ie without us paying Maybelline a by-or-leave: to me, it's a very up and down brand. But recently, we've been feeling the love. Lynnie raved about their Salon Manicure top coat and last week I was quietly impressed by Lash Stiletto too.

And now, I've another newish launch to tell you about, Dream Satin Liquid foundation. At €11.99, it'll fit into most budgets, and I'm glad to see that, as there is a dearth of decent base products at this price point. So while I won't swap my current Chanel Lift Lumiere and Diorskin Nude favourites for it (though I might have to, the way things are going...), I didn't think this was Bad At All. This is on my subs team now, and I'll use it as a backup.

"Air-whipped foundation with an air-brushed finish", is one of the lofty claims, but we take them with a pinch of salt from any brand. This, to me, is a fluid foundation (forget the air-whipped thing, it's not remotely mousse-like at all) that I'd liken to the dewy effect you get from MAC Studio Fix Fluid - but Dream Satin isn't as coverage-tastic, though of course you can build it.

My dry skin liked it, and it felt like it moisturised all day.  That, I presume, is down to the inclusion of  water and glycerin in the formula, and skin never felt tight and uncomfortable, there were no flaky patches, and it lasted well. Oily gals may find this is just too moisturising for them, so I'd tip the nod to those with Saharan-complexions and also more mature skintypes who need extra help.

Downside? The colour range is fairly small, with only eight shades on offer, and I have a feeling very pale ladies are going to be left out in the cold. The shade I tried, Nude 021, is the second palest, and was about two-to-three shades too dark for me.
