Shu Uemura Sheer Lacquer = Household Cleaning Agent

hairspray

I opened my bag the other day to see, to my horreur and shoque, that a crappy Bic biro had burst. Burst all over my shiny white Macbook, my BlackBerry and my Paul & Joe hand mirror, among other things. Wailing wouldn't describe the sound that came out of my mouth.

Something that begins with F and ends with K probably would, but it is not suitable for publication, so I'll leave it to your imaginations.

Somewhere in the dim recesses of my mind I recalled Kim and Aggie extolling the virtues of hairspray as a curative for pen marks on leather, so I decided to see if it was worth a shot. Unfortunately all I had to hand was a very expensive can of Shu Uemura's Sheer Lacquer. Oh well.

I didn't want to spray directly onto either device so I lashed some on a tea towel and rubbed: the pen came off!  It really did, so I got braver and sprayed directly onto the laptop lid. Before my very eyes - yes, my very eyes - the pen started to lift, melt and run, allowing me to wipe it away.

Score! This is one tip I'll be saving away for the future - but hopefully using something a little cheaper next time.

PS: as this is a beauty blog, not a DIY household tips one, I'd best tell you a little something about the spray. It's fab and I am a fan of hairspray anyway: delivering a fine mist, it gives shine and good hold, and brushes out well. Thumbs up, and worth the occasional €24 to replace it, too.
