One of my favourite things these days is the trend towards balmy lip products that are like the lovechild of a lipstick and a gloss. (We've recently discovered a bargain version from Catrice - read about them here!) As much as I love a nice lippy, I never quite feel grown up enough to wear them and the maintenance levels of a bright shade is just far too much effort.
Lucky for me there are lots of hybrid products that team the casualness of a balm or gloss with a lipstick-like finish or colour payoff. Shiseido's new Veiled Rouge lip colour line, which arrived on counters this month, fits the bill perfectly. They’re €25 a pop and they are absolutely lovely.
I got to try two shades, RD707 Mischief, a rich coppery red with hint of shimmer and RD506 Carnevale, a blue-red and am quite keen on both.
For such soft, balmy textures they give quite a kick of colour and feel fantastic on the lips. They just glide on, with no stickiness. Plus there’s hydrating, smoothing properties in there too, which help blur out fine lines (making them a good choice for the older laydee).

There are eight shades in the range and I suspect they’re going to be very popular indeed.
Do you like these balmy types of lippy? Or do you prefer the traditional form?
