Best-Dressed Men of the Screen Actors Guild Awards

We're bang in the middle of awards season, and as the Screen Actors Guild gathered to celebrate the achievements of some of the biggest stars of film and TV, there were plenty of sharply dressed peeps taking to the red carpet. We've already had a chat about the gúnas and the feminine suits (we're calling 'em shuxedos) but what of the gents?

A few of the usual suspects make an appearance in our gallery of the best-dressed, including Eddie Redmayne, who has been scooping awards left, right and centre these past few weeks. He's always well togged out on the red carpet, and while his black tie affair last night was nothing too daring, he wears the tux with the confidence of a man who knows that his outfit is perfectly suited to him. His lapels are quite wide, which can sometimes serve to make you look even slimmer when you are of a thinner build as Redmayne is, but they work here to give him a sense of proportion.

Similarly, Allen Leech, Kit Harrington and Gabriel Aubry all went for classic black, and without too much frill and fuss, they allowed the suit to really compliment them, rather than overpower them. This simplicity is perhaps best exemplified by Mahershala Ali's outfit, which was very understated and ended up looking all the better for it.

When it comes to experimenting with colour, Matthew McConaughey has been in good form lately and although this blue and black combo is a little flashy and somewhat daring, it works well for him. Jesse Lee Soffer hit on the perfect shade of midnight blue, as did Joe Manganiello, with both men opting for the shawl lapel, while Michael Keaton's grey and black combo shows that he's not afraid to go for something a little different too.

Finally, Lenny Kravitz went all black and a bit more dressed down, something that showcases one of the key rules of style; to be comfortable with what yours is and go with it. We more or less expect Kravits not to be sporting a bow tie and to look like a rock star, but when the occasion calls for a suit he can still add a touch of his own personality to it.
