It seemed that 2013 was the year of the kajal liner. Bobbi Brown, Estée Lauder and Stila (among others) all produced one that year, and I haven't noticed too many of them around since, which I find a little surprising.
If you're a smoky eye lover, then a kajal liner is a brilliant makeup staple. Finding a liner which will be opaquely black, smudge softly, but then set and stay put is quite a task. YSL are the masters of formulation - a swatch of their Teint Touche Éclat Foundation, Glossy Stains or False Lash Mascara make that blindingly evident.
At €32.50, this is definitely for liner and smoky eye enthusiasts, but the quality is incredible and the product is versatile. If you're not an everyday liner person, then this isn't a wise investment, but if you are, you've got yourself a pretty glorious liner and a cream shadow stick that blends silkily. Buff it all over the lid with a clean fluffy brush as a divine base for your smoky eye.
In the below photo, I decided to test its staying power by applying a clean line of Noir Ardent across my lid, and smudging it out along the lower lashline.

It really excels at both clean lining and smudging, and it didn't budge at all. I'm seriously impressed. There are four shades available - Noir Ardent and Bleu Cobalt are pictured at the top of the page. YSL Couture Kajal will be available from September 1st.
