In 2010, I had nine weddings. From a fun perspective it was great. From a style and financial perspective it was a bit of a nightmare. Trying to choose an outfit that works for several occasions in one year is challenging. And when the same people are at every single one you have another unwanted variable.
The trick is to invest in a couple of pieces that you can chop and change to make them work more than one time. And there are few simple guidelines of which to take note.
- Opt for plain colours
The less print or statement the dress or outfit, the easier it is to re-style. If you opt for something more noticeable or memorable, it's a challenge to make it look different. A lady did once say to me at a wedding, "didn't you wear that in May", referring to the previous friend's nuptials. Yep, she actually said that.
- Accessorise, accessorise, accessorise

Allow budget for some wraps, necklaces, scarves and bangles to add each time you wear that outfit. Changing the colour of even a statement necklace can alter how a dress looks. Watch out for some collar-style pieces which can be added to make them look like it's part of the dress
- The statement shoe
I always notice a killer shoe. This season is all about open sandals and super high heel. Aldo currently have some amazing pairs which would give even Guiseppe Zanotti a run for his money.

A printed scarf or jacket is a perfect way to reinvent an outfit. Even if you have a dress already and want to update it, keep an eye out for jacquard and multi-print blazers. You can also wear said jacket all over the summer.
So it's not so bad. You don't need ten different dresses for your summer weddings. So tell us, have you a dress you will be recycling for this year's marriages?
