The Olay Regenerist Luminous range has been a big hit for the skincare brand. The line is geared towards aging skin (but sure, aren't we all aging all the time. Every second we get a second older) and targets dark spots in particular.
The hoped-for benefits of the products are in the title - they are supposed to help even skin tone and brighten it up. So basically it wants to be the elixir of youth. We'll take it!
Two new products have been added to the line - the Skin Tone Perfecting Serum and the Brightening and Protecting SPF20 Moisturiser.
- Olay Regenerist Luminus Skin Tone Perfecting Serum
This serum contains Sepiwhite (Undeclenoyl Phenylalanine) which apparently helps to reduce the appearance of dark spots over time. The other key ingredient is Niacinamide which targets dark spots. It's quite heavily perfumed and leaves a slightly sticky residue after rubbing in that wears away after a couple of minutes but it doesn't feel unpleasant on the skin.

- Olay Regenerist Luminous Brightening and Protecting SPF20 Moisturiser
This moisturiser is designed to be light-weight, fast-absorbing and non-greasy which it is. When it dries the skin feels moisturised and ready for the next layer, be it primer, foundation whatever. The SPF20 helps prevent the skin from developing further darkening it the ingredients NAG (N-Acetyl Glucosamine) and Niacinamide reduce the production of excess melanin which us believed to be the key cause of uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation.
Both the serum and the moisturiser cost €40.59 (RRP) which is rather high for Olay products. However, a little goes a long way with both products so it should last you a long while and if it really does what it promises to do and evens and brightens skin it will be well worth the price. They are available exclusively in Boots stores from January 1st 2015.
