So I've been learning to deal with my hair. As a teen, I chopped my waist-length hair into a pixie cut. At university, I shaved my head - which just seemed to confuse people. Then I decided to grow my hair, and wept over it during the various David Hasselhoff styles it sported in the growth stages between short and a bob. Then I got tired of the Baywatch references, so I cut it off again. Then I grew it again, and I wept again. Then I had a hair extensions transforamtion which I describe, with great glee, as 'unbeweaveable'. Now I have shoulder length hair. It's quite fine, but there's lots of it, and it is both oily and dry, with a hint of frizz, which is the funnest hair type.
I generally look at my hair as a problem that needs to be solved. I frequently find myself verbally abusing it: 'Ah for feck's sake, will you LIE DOWN?!' I never win though, and have come to the conclusion that my hair is a bit of a gobshite.
In an attempt to dominate it, I frequently resort to styling tools like my beloved Babyliss Big Hair, which tames my mop admirably. Sometimes, when desperate, I'll batter it into submission with the GHD. But as Sean Bean liked to say before they killed him off (again), winter is coming. And you know what that means; a feckin' mental head of hair.
It's pretty important to use something which protects hair from the heat of styling tools. Since my hair is blonde (and it ain't naturally that way, if you know what I'm saying...) my hair needs extra protection. Every blonde knows the brittle nest of wiry twigs you can be left with if you apply too much heat to bleached hair.

With that in mind, I've taken to using GK Hair Professional's ThermalStyleHer. Frankly, the name made me snort cynically into my morning porridge - you'd be hard-pushed to find a more forced pun. That said, this beautifully scented cream/gel absorbs into hair immediately, doesn't feel heavy or greasy, and seems to be doing a sterling job of protecting my noggin and all that grows out of it from heat damage.
You simply cannot argue with results. It contains a combination of proteins, natural silicones (whatever that means) and oils. My hair felt unusually soft and nourished after the first use and it has stayed in good condition.
Colour me impressed (and blonde)! This will set you back €20 and is available from selected salons and online.
