Every brand out there seems to be releasing a neutrals palette, probably hoping to rival the Naked palette, although I cannot think of a single one that has even come close. It seems we all have at least one of the Naked palettes and just how many other nudes do we need?
Well that was my thinking unil I happened upon the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette.
Too Faced have done something that most other brands haven’t – they have put their own spin on it! Not only is the outer box a gorgeous pink pastel affair straight out of Willy Wonka’s factory but the tin palette itself is made to look like actual chocolate. And it doesn’t end there - the eyeshadows contain real cocoa powder giving them a chocolatey smell.
Okay, so this is a little gimmicky and when I heard about it, I was a bit repulsed. I was imagining a heavy synthetic scent that would be far too overpowering before your morning coffee but the aroma is actually quite pleasant, more reminiscent of cocoa butter and completely undetectable after application.
It contains sixteen eyeshadows, with a decent mix of mattes and shimmers. There are two highlight shades (one matte, one shimmer) that are in larger pans than the rest. While my OCD does not enjoy how this throws off the symmetry of the palette, at least they are the shades you will probably use the most.
And the colours all have delicious chocolate-inspired names too. So join me in a cocoa swatch bonanza:
- Gilded Ganache; a dark chocolate brown with gold shimmer
- White Chocolate; a matte yellow cream
- Milk Chocolate; a matte midtone taupe
- Black Forest Truffle; a burgundy with shimmer
- Triple Fudge; a very dark matte brown

- Salted Caramel; a matte orange-toned light brown
- Marzipan; a pearlescent peach
- Semi-Sweet; a matte medium brown
- Strawberry Bon Bon; a matte light pink
- Candied Violet; a medium purple packed with glitter
- Amaretto; a pearlescent medium to dark brown
(Bottom row)
- Hazelnut; a pearlescent golden brown
- Crème Brulee; a metallic antique gold
- Haute Chocolate; a medium brown with a golden sheen
- Cherry Cordial; a matte burgundy with gold flecks
- Champagne Truffle; a pearlescent pale pink-toned white
In all, there are a great mix of finishes and shades. The two curveball colours are the matte pink and glittery purple which I feel don’t really gel with the rest of the palette. And funnily enough, those are the only two with bad pigmentation. All of the other shades are easy to work with, regardless of texture.
This is an everything-in-one-place type palette and although people may argue that it needs a black, I think the darkest matte brown is sufficient.
Here is a look I created with Marzipan on the lid and the three matte browns in the crease and underneath the eye.
I think this is a great, every day palette with more versatility than any of the Naked palettes. I have been reaching for this daily since I got it.

€63 is the cringe-inducing damage but if you still haven’t ventured into the Naked line, then I urge you this way instead. It is like three Naked palettes all in one so actually works out far cheaper! (That’s makeup maths, you know?!) It is now available in Debenhams, currently with a 12% discount if you buy online.
What do you think? Does it leave you wanting or just plain hungry for Coco Pops?
