Beaut.ienomics With Maybelline's Color Drama: Dupe for Nars Velvet Lip Pencils?

We are having quite the Lippie Monday here on Beaut.ie.

And if it's dramatic, intense lip colour you're after, and you want a option that literally will not MOVE off your lips unless you get some sort of acid involved (ok, less of the histrionics, but it will last the whole day and you'll probably wake up with it all over your pillows), then Maybelline's new Color Drama is pour vous.

Granted, these are a bit much if you're like to keep things low key during the day, but for a night on the tiles, they're pretty much perfection. Nightmare for the boys you'll be kissing, mind.

Today I've tried three shades - Fuschia Desire, In With Coral and Light It Up. And they remind me of Nars' velvet pencils - creamy to apply with great colour payoff.

They're a pencil, but once you've applied them to your lips, they feel like lipstick. They're a lot less drying than you'd imagine, which is good news for my near constantly chapped lips (note to self: drink water, drink water, drink even more water).

Fuchsia Desire

The texture is quite creamy and doesn't smell like you raided a sweet shop.

They've also got a semi-matte finish which is great news for me (if you've been keeping up with my reviews, you'll know I can't bare to put anything glossy, sticky, shimmery or pearlescent on my lips).

These bad boys, on the other hand, will keep your look well away from looking granny-ish.

Where these types of products always let me down is with the pigment.

They look gorgeous in the tube or on the lid, and then you apply them to find they're really rather watery and as soon as you take a sip of something, the colour will have almost vanished. The pigment with Colour Drama is strong, and while they feel nice and creamy on your lips, the stain will go the distance.

And if that wasn't enough to float your boat, the fact that these come in the form of a pencil, means you can define your lips really easily, and you'll only need the one product!

These will come in ten shades from nudes to pinks, and from corals to reds.

Best of all, these shades will only set you back €6.79 and are on counter September 1st. I'll take all ten, please.

Have you tried these new Color Drama Intense Velvet Lip pencils from Maybelline? Are you a fan of the Nars pencils? Would you consider this as a less expensive dupe? To the comments!
