Sea salt draws toxins out of the body and contains minerals like magnesium, zinc, calcium, potassium and iodine. Bathing in sea salt will cleanse and purify your skin, and using sea salt as a scrub can help eliminate cellulite because regular exfoliating will help stimulate the lymphatic drainage to problem areas. So how do you use it?
Sea Salt Bath:
Mix a cupfull of pure sea salt (not your regular table salt OR rock salt!) together with 1/2 teaspoon of liquid glycerin (this is optional - sea salt can be quite drying on the skin and glycerin is a moisturiser). You can also mix in a few drops of a scented oil if you like. Sprinkle the mixture into a hot bath, and enjoy!
Sea Salt Scrub
Make a paste of sea salt & water and rub onto your body before a shower. Allow it to sit on the skin for at least a minute before washing off. Your skin should feel smooth and invigorated.
Note:
You must ensure that you use sea salt. Regular salt has had all the beneficial minerals removed and is basically just pure sodium chloride. Sitting in a bath of it can cause problems for people with high blood pressure and will give you no health benefits.
Sea salt can be bought from health food shops and glycerin can be bought at the chemist.
